Casting from electronic copy
Harry McIntosh has
adapted a Monotype composition caster to allow it to be driven directly from a
PC. By replacing the conventional air-tower that reads a punched paper spool
with computer-driven equipment, he can effectively cast directly from electronic
copy. As a result, the text need not be rekeyed, with the consequent saving in
time and errors.
In the picture, Harry is
checking type as it emerges from the caster. |
