We recently took all the materials for the book up to Ludlow Bookbinding and look forward to seeing the finished result which - aside from a dummy binding - is still only in our imagination.

Palladio's Homes

A book from our backlist

in print, £250 plus shipping

Last December we were in a small party visiting some of the major libraries in Rome and Venice, and enjoying the pleasure of handling some wonderful incunabula. As a side trip we visited (again) Villa Barbaro at Maser, one of the thirteen villas featured in Palladio's Homes, a book that was inspired by a trip we made some years ago visiting many of his villas in the Veneto.

One of the other villas we visited was Villa Godi, Palladio's first. Here's the opening from Palladio's Homes featuring Godi: Palladio's description in his original Italian on the left and an English translation on the right. In the centre is one of the illustrations we commissioned from Italian artist Carlo Rapp, a line drawing with linocut.

We recently had more copies bound up, again in the wonderful 'Cloudy Sky' cover paper from Cave Paper in Minneapolis.

For full details including a video showing much of the book, visit our website.
